Personal experience

I lost my Aunt about seven years ago. Her death was shocking to everyone. She was the youngest of three sisters and showed no signs of illness. When I first heard the news I was in denial. I couldn't wrap my mind around it. I was more confused than anything. I remember my mother sitting down with me one day telling me that it was ok to feel sad, but my feelings remained numb. It finally hit me when I put myself into the shoes of my Aunt's two older sisters. As soon as I started to think about what they were going through, my emotions got the best of me. I cried in my room for about ten minutes. After the tears left my face, I finally felt like I was grieving normal. I talked to my parents about it afterward and we discussed the idea of death and its existence in life.
